the notorious hazardous algae blooms have attacked the filters . the sea water pump is non functional. after cleaning the filters, still nothing working. looking at the blow up parts diagram and instructions on this par max jabsco water pump , i see one can dissemble this pump to 'clean the debris out' and also rebuild the pump. i suspect the algae debris has also gotten in side the par max jabsco . i'm wondering if it's worth rebuilding the pump -- or just go buy a new drop in...?

par pump is designed for owner maintenance. easy, straight forward. they use to be cheap. now not cheap. it's all i've used for over fifty years.
yes, we surely do winterize engines. the engine's seawater pump is fine and as its filter bowl is cleaned each week end . the algae mainly collects in the slip, so only the 1st few minutes do algae get in to the engine's seawater pump. the par jabsco sea water pump is another story. even after cleaning its filter , pulling the pump and hose flushing it when it's reconnected to 12 v it does not pump ...
ie 'it does not pump at all...' NB it is the same model as the par jabsco freshwater pump that takes h 2 0 out of the water tanks. that one kicked the bucket at age 4, and it was not an algae problem. that pump was pumping thru a filter from the fresh water tanks .
12.7 v + into the pump, good ground. the pump is humming but not pumping any h 2 0. some of the jabscos have pinhole leaks and the symptom is water leaking out, but this one doesn't. this is the 2nd jabsco pump that's developed such a symptom...
