Hayn Hi Mod compression fittings revisited:

Spring is in the air, (never mind the pandemic)my back to back winter projects are done enough, and MaryAnne is in the driveway:

As I'm pouring over the spec sheets and contemplating a complete re-rig along with spending the value of the boat (again :) ) -- wondering if anyone has a live picture or at least anecdotal evidence of the Hayn Hi-Mod compression eye relative to the masthead and spreader fittings? According to the spec sheet the 1/8th fitting is about a 16th narrower at the head than my legacy thimbles: Hi-MOD Fittings by Hayn Marine.

Just a tad leery of committing before I confirm the fit.

And just because everyone needs more pics I give you "green mansion" and "Tajmashed"-- finally some storage space to free up the shop for boat projects

@pclarksurf - Beautiful work! Of course, after all the other work you've shared with us, we'd expect nothing less. :)

Here are a couple shots of a Hi-Mod on our forestay (side-view and top-view if it's not obvious from the pictures). That's the only Hi-Mod I have, so no comparison to the shroud points.

I think I spent about as much for the red Lok-tite and the special Lok-tite stainless cleaner it called for as I did for a single Hi-Mod. But we've had it in place for 2 seasons now, and never had to think about it, so I call that a win.

I'm about 20 feet from the boat, so if another view would be helpful, I'm happy to snap more pics.

@AaronD you sir, are a saint! That's exactly what I needed by way of peace of mind. Question-- in the markup below: I assume when your forestay is rotated naturally toward the viewers angle the clearance which looks here to be tight, clears the masthead successfully? (hopefully I'm making sense...)

You're correct - with the furler foil strapped to the mast, I couldn't pull it out to the right angle (or at least I was too lazy to unstrap it and do so). But in use, it clears the masthead cleanly.

Many thanks again... Looking forward to finally having a rig that finally makes sense.

screw the furler/forestay/foil thing.....how 'bout that great woodworking job on the outbuilding!
put a hot rock sauna in there for the winter months, relax and enjoy the snowy view of your boat in the driveway, a brewski in hand and your Admiral by your side....life is good!
