Some damage. I was going to Marina del Rey for opening days from Long Beach and left an hour and a half before the Tsunami was expected to impact. I headed for deep water but in only 90' my wife and friend said they felt a distinct change in the wave pattern and period. I was below pulling up some waypoints and checking for updates. I figured they were imagining things until a friend in mid-channel reported the same. We had to orbit under sail for a few hours until they allowe d the Marina del Rey harbor to open. The harbor patrol urged caution upon entering and boy were they right. I got into a whirlpool that turned me 90 degrees before the rudder and prop bit. I could not enter a guest dock on the main channel. I was 45 degrees trying to go forward. I took another tie off the channel. However, I have never seen such weird currents in 50++ years of boating! We had a 4-5' tidal change in one hour for example, and it looked like a 8 knot wake past the dock pylons. Strange days! I changed my mind about a few things I'll comment on next week for sure. Be safe!
