Have you had a model of your boat made?

While there are a number of companies or persons that make model of boats on the web, has anyone on this site had a model of their boat made? Are there some cautions? How satisfied were you.

I'm thinking of asking for this for a Christmas gift. I'd like a model of my boat to sit on my desk....to help me dream when the weather is bad.

Any help would be appreciated.

DIY. A traditional winter pass time.

Every sailor should build at least one ship model. I've done several traditional designs and one of a Stiletto 27 that I gave to my parents (Christmas). I should do my current boat... some day.

This is the one liscensed by Precision, a quote last year was $495 for the boat , half hull $150. I don't own one but they look pretty good. I see they also have the Oracle America's Cup boat now for $495. I didn't see any Hunters.

Note I also have a half hull made by the late Dynamite Payson of the Bolger Cartopper. I built the boat in his Wooden Boat building class.

Les, we had a half hull model made of our H340 by a guy here in Atlanta - www.halfhull.net

He works from line drawings, pictures, whatever you have and what he may have in his files. Very well done, about $500 +/- depending on size and details you want

Mass Production

I would love to have a model of my 310 to sit on my desk, but $500 is a bit too much for curiosity. It would seem there is a bit of a market for more modest models.
