Have you folks subscribed to the mainsheet?

One of the usual perks of being a member of the association is getting the quarterly Catalina Mainsheet magazine.

I mention this, because myself, and a couple folks (association editors) are working on articles for the next magazine release (summer) for the Capri 25/Catalina 25 about Stuart Douglas Paine and his Capri 25, entered into the Transpac, Single Handed division.

I know the Transpac is pretty far away (June), but I figured a fellow Capri owner might be of interest to folks here.

Before you poo poo his attempt... A Capri 25 has done it before, and placed 2nd in it's division. You'd be amazed at what boats have attempted this before.
Just trying to drum up some excitement for sailing during these cold winter months.

I'd again like you all to consider joining the Capri 22 association (if you have not already), to get the Catalina Mainsheet Magazine. There will be a barrage of articles associated with Doug Paine's attempt at the Single Handed Transpac.

Perhaps it's me, but I am actually quite jealous of his ability to make this attempt. It's kind of a dream of mine to attempt something this difficult with a boat I own now... this just brings it a bit more close to home I suppose.

We can only wish him luck, and safe passage, but you know I'll secretly be rooting for him!

Keep an eye out for the articles folks!

Are we talking about filling out the form that is here on this Website under "Membership" and mailing to Patrick or something else all together different?

On the Catalina Yachts website, I see where I can subscribe to the Mainsheet Magaizine for $15 a year - is this what you are talking about, or is there is a Capri 22 association to be joined?

Where do I find out more about it?
Where do I sign up? What does it cost per year?
Any thing else I should know?

Subscription to the mainsheet. It used to be part of the association, as held for the various types of Catalina boats. Looks like that is no longer the case. I highly recommend the Mainsheet magazine though, as it contains articles by owners of every model of Catalina boats, and technical articles approved by the manufacturer as the proper way to repair/maintain the boats.

I've found it a nice way to dream about the upgrade, or downgrade boat. I've had such great luck with my Catalinas over the year, that I'd seriously consider another FIRST before any other brand... Although, my thought process now is, to own either a J boat next, or if I ever consider bigger waters, perhaps a Capri 30! hehehe.

I bought my CP 22 new. It came with a year of the magazine Mainsheet.

As advertised above, it really does have some interesting, informative items plus a section (most issues) for the 22-footers.

Membership to the mainsheet. It used to be a piece of the relationship, as held for the different sorts of Catalina vessels. It would appear that that is no more the case. I very prescribe the Mainsheet magazine however, as it contains articles by managers of each model of Catalina vessels, and specialized articles sanction by the producer as the correct approach to repair/keep up the pontoons.

We could do this, but... It costs so we need to collect dues, keep track of members, addresses, etc. Bug people to pay. ITs a PITA. If someone wants to do this, then PM me.
