Have you ever heard of USHIP ?

I am wanting to have my boat transported by truck and was told about an internet company called USHIP. Have you heard of or used this company before ? I need some feedback. It work just like EBAY trucking companies bid on your shipment. Whatever that may be.

It is exactly like you said, you put the bid out, someone going that way bids it, the cheapest one usually get the move!
It is said to be pretty good.
You would really be wise to be sure they have shipped lots of boats.

Private moving companies use U-Ship as an avenue to get business- similar to eBay. I accepted a bid from a private company through U-Ship to move a boat cross-country and in the contract gave them a week-long window to pick up the boat. The company initially had the boat scheduled for pickup early in that week-long window- then the pick-up date kept sliding back to last day of the pick-up date window. The morning of the scheduled pick-up the private company cancelled. This left me scrambling and in a very vulnerable position to get the boat moved (former owners had sold the house where boat needed to be picked up).

I found out the private company I chose was scheduled to do a delivery in the area where my boat needed to be picked up. The company gave me a low bid in order to have business for driving their truck back to the home base after that other delivery. Then after the company accepted my bid and agreed to a contract with me, the company continued to solicit work for the same return trip to their home base. The company then secured a more lucrative bid after they agreed to ship my boat- and subsequently cancelled my contract. Of course, the story the private company gave to U-Ship was that my timing requirements did not align with theirs- thus it was not possible for me to leave feedback warning others.

My advice is that if you use U-Ship, give yourself a big window of time in case your shipper cancels. Also, be very specific with timelines and other terms in your U-Ship contract / bid. This will give your shipper less opportunity to cancel. It would probably help to use a shipper that is locally based where your boat needs to be picked up.

BTW- I ended up placing an ad on the Craigslist near where the boat needed to be picked up. I got a very competent shipper whose bid was less than U-Ship.

you should also make sure that you see acopy of there insurance cirtificate including property damage to your boat as well as there liability ...ask for a copy from there provider ....no copy ----no ship that simple

I used uship and had a few problems. If your not in a hurry to get your boat moved things can work well. I did have one companiy back out but they returned my deposit. Just make sure you check them out closely as far as insurance and they have shipped lots of boats. The trucker that moved mine treated it like it was his own. Having said that it I would do it again.

I used Uship to move my boat from Wisconsin to Florida. I gave them a 3 month window to move it so that I could get the best deal.I ended up with a company out of Indiana called EMI Transport. Nick and Mike were great to work with and extremely professional. I would recommend them to anyone.
All I have to say is: If you use Uship, look at the transporters feedback. If they don't have any, or have anything that looks suspicious don't accept their bid. Look for longevity and multiple hauls, and look at cancelled or non completed hauls. Sometimes the boat owners could be the ones backing out, so read into it carefully. Another thing is to see how many trucks they have. If it's more than one, your odds will be better because transporting is their business. If it's one truck, it could be side money for them. Get a contract, and read it carefully. If there's something you don't understand, ASK!!! Don't sign it until you both agree on everything. I guess my best advice is to do your homework. Uship can be a great thing. By the way, I paid $2900 to ship my boat from Wisconsin to Florida.
