Patrick my cruising design has an open drum so the line jumps off from time to time. Have they closed in the drum to prevent this?

Hi Fireworks!

Nice to see you drop in! Hope all is well in your decision making progress - hope they didn't bully you too much over on Cruising World. Stick around! LaDonna PS: I have to agree with Patrick on the CDI. Others may be "nicer" but you won't get significantly more for a boat with a Harken as opposed to a CDI.

Depends on make fo the furler

My new 270 has a Shaeffer furler. Mine has jumped off BUT....the manufacturer stresses that the control line to the drum MUST enter the drum fair, and at a right angle to the drum. After moving the fairlead on the bow pulpit, the furling drum seems to be ok! thanks doug
