A silly little poem I made up when I was about 19 years old. Being prone to seasickness I have never forgot the words...IF I WERE A SEAFARING MANIf I were a seafaring manI tell you what I'd do...I'd build the "Island Princess"and fit her with a crew.I would sail the largest wavesI would sail all oceans blueIf I were a seafaring manthat's exactly what I'd do.I can see me at the helmbravely bracing the salty sprayCruising t'ward the horizon, where the sun slowly fades away...I would be a mighty sailor,a captian of glorious fameAnd in every single port of callthey would surely know my name.ALAS! But here I ama landlubber through and throughMy pocket's full of DramamineAnd I'm clinging here to you!You see, I can't go out therewhere that blue water rushes quickFor once I touch that wobbling deckI'm surely to be SICK!IF I were a seafaring man,I tell you what I'd doI'd build the "Island Princess"And fit her with a crew.
