I have been on the water for almost my entire life, and have heard stories and folklore of hauntings and the like. However, this is my first experience with the "supernatural". Back in April, a Hunter 28.5 arrived in the marina on a transport truck. The local "Yard Man" told me he had never received any information about this boat even being delivered to him...he unloaded the boat (almost dropped it twice), and put "it" on the hard until the owner arrived very promptly in mid-June. Then, in June, the same Yard Man stepped the mast with a crane...one problem, all the turnbuckles were missing...nowhere to be found on the boat! One other thing missing on the boat, both primary Jib winches, shore power cord, and who knows what else. But at least "It" is in the water. Right next to me. Ever since this boat has been next to me, here is what has happned on my boat....1 blown compressor on my central heat/air unit, 1 lost anchor, 5 horrible dockings, 2 broken docklines in a storm, a ripped bimini, 3 friends have fallen through the dock, my umbrella on the dock ended up borken in 20 pieces in the cockpit of a boat 50 yards away, my engine box collapsed, and the list goes on and on!!! Any ideas?? I'm thinking of having a priest come out to perform an exorcisim...and I'm not kidding. Richie Mahoney s/v ComeMonday

Sounds like something out of the "Twilight Zone" TV show. I think I would request another slip, if at all possible. Is there a name on "it," other than the choice one's you have in mind? That may be a clue. Have you found out who owns the boat in question? Perhaps you might find out the history of "it." As for all the mishaps, they do not sound like an average Monday either. Has anyone else experienced strange things close to this boat in question? Let us know the outcome. Should be verrrrrry enterrrestingk!

You have my sypmathies. I'm not one to be very superstious, but I and at least 1 other member of my family have had horrible luck after we removed the name of our respective boats. My list would be similar to your, and my relative's is even worse. After we each renamed our boats and took all the necessary steps, generally no more problems. You can bet I will never do that again. It's hard to believe, but move your boat or move theirs, something is going on.

I've have my 27 for four years, it ran great the whole time, never had a problem with anything, since I had the previous owner on one day last month, the bow cleat ripped out (after I discussed with him, he goes, oh yeah one of the screws was broken and had about 1/4" into the wood and he just epoxied it back down) and the engine conked out on me last week. Maybe I should just exorcise the previous owner?
