Hauling problem?

I just hauled my boat, usually an uneventful experience. This time my 36' Hunter went from the travel lift slings onto a traveling poppet car. When the slings were released, I heard a load cracking sound on the port side slightly aft of amidship below the water line.
The hauler said that it was common and not to worry? Should I worry and what can I do to make sure that no damage was done?

Sounds scary to me. A friend had similar experience and found at spring splashing he had some bad leaks. Turned out some (can't remember if it was more than one) ribs had been cracked. Document what happened. Lift the sole boards and look around best you can.

Slings, Jack stands, and hull similar supports are supposed to go where the transverse bulkheads are inside the boat. As opposed to unsupported parts of the hull that will bow inward under the weight of the boat. Some boats have marks in the mold or decals that indicate where to pick. The hauler could have tapped the hull, located a hard point where there was support and move his pads. (If he was trained and cared of course). Worse case, that noise was possibly tabbing separating from a spot where hull and bulkhead or support grid meet. Look for a white color where the fiberglass tape or mat make a 90 deg turn from hull to transverse support It could be harmless noise too. I wasn't there didn't hear it.

I have a 2000 H340 and our yard started using those hydraulic boat carriers about two years ago. When they first put my boat on the carrier I saw some worrysome oil canning on the aft starboard side of the boat along the waterline, right under one of the hydraulic arms - no cracking, just denting. The weight of the boat was fully supported by the keel but the arms were pressing mighty hard on the boat to keep it in place. Since then, I asked the yard to use only the travel-lift to haul and place the boat. Some parts of the hull are just to lightly built and one must be careful in the placement of hydraulic lifters and even jack stands to support the hull.
