I tried to have my boat hauled up this week but was unsuccessful. The marina has a regular lift. The marina people told me that their lift can't do my boat because the H28.5 mast was set up differently (to much aft??). They can't do it without risking my boat and told me to find some other marina that has the right lift. Do any of you H28.5 owners ran into a similar problem?? If so what's the solution. Thanks a million for any help you may give me.

open lift

You usually need an open end lift. It kinda limits your haul out yard options. Its not because its a Hunter - its that you are leaving the mast up. The lift you want is (looking at it from a top view) is "U" shaped. You float into the "lift bay" on the open end when the lift straps are already dropped deep into the water - they slide the straps such that they touch/hug the front and back of the keel and lift- back your boat out of the bay and block( tri-stand) you on the hard. You want to make sure that any knot log thru-hull impeller is not caught on the straps. Jim McCue

Thanks for the advice

No. They don't have an open lift. But they did not tell me to step down the mast either. Figure that's too much a chore. I'll try to find a boat yard that has an open lift. Thanks for the clarification.

Plenty of lifts

There are plenty of lifts in the middle peninsula area....Deltaville, Urbanna. Have my 28.5 out each year at Deagles or Steve Prices. No problems. Hunter marks the lift points just under the rub rail on the hull. Good luck
