A couple of months ago I requested some information (from you all) on hauling my 33' Hunter from New Bern, NC to Boston. I received many great responses and recommendations. However, I didn't listen so well...I inherited my fathers boat, thus I instantly became a boat owner rather than a sailor (big difference!!). So anyway to jump ahead, I ended up going with the cheapist hauler I could find, of course it ended up being a broker out of Texas. I think the most important thing I learned was(at least for this company)...The ship date provided ended up being the date they started to look for a driver, yep, so I went to NC prepared the boat and then it sat for 3 1/2 weeks. I would call this broker on a daily basis and only twice I received a call back (extremely frustrating no doubt). A lot of empty promises...However, I must finally recommend the actual hauler and driver! He was the best, Dale Atkinson.Keels on Wheels Trucking LTd. Barrington Passage, NS Canada Tel 902-745-0382 He is an Owner/operator, very best situation, he was there when he said and I spoke with him literaly 3 or 4 times a day on the route up. I would not hesitate to use him again and highly recommend. I know he moves all over the country. Before, he picked me up he was driving from Seattle to Virginia Beach. Anyway...I guess in conclusion, I ended up saving probably about $800, but I am not sure if it was worth the headache!Well, I am now feverishly working on Sinbad to get her ship-shape, we are going swimming on Thursday and I can wait....Good Luck.
