On the D shaped hatch seal which side goes up towards the hatch, my boat currently has the seals with the flat side up but given all the other things that were installed incorrectly these may also be wrong

The flat side should be glued to the deck, but it's possible that the gasket has been flattened by compression over the years.

what is confusing me is that the area where the seal glues down is indented THANKS!!

Someone may have used whatever gasket they could find... that happens all too often. :)

I just replaced the hatch seals on my H30. The seal is in the hatch and not the deck frame. The old seal that used to be round was flattened to a "d" shape. I bought some new round seal material only to find out the hatch is warped in the middle and even with the new seal I could see light. I bedded the new seal in Dow 795. I ended up taking a razor and cutting the top off the new seal making it flat. Lowes has some marine hatch seal that I attached on top of the cut seal. This stuff works great and sticks well to the cut seal. We had 2" of hard rain and not one drop in the boat. I finally have a dry boat. The seal at Lowes is made by MD....part number 01033 if anyone is interested.

The hatch seals I'm replacing are the flat lexan that seal to the deck.I glued the flat side of the seal down which did not work well at all ( flat side to concave)also purchased the MD seal which is made for a 5/16 gap and I have about a 1/2 inch gap so it would not work but realy liked the idea of the 2 sided tape to hold seal down ,Thanks for the help will keep trying
