My H23 is missing the original rods that used to hold the companion top open. I've seen them before on another boat, but forgot exactly how they looked and were attached. could someone send me a picture of the rods and how they were attached to the hatch? thanks James jbreland@howard-ind.com

My 89 h23 never had such a thing, Mike Epp made some for his 23 . I think he used a portion of those fiberglass tent poles that had elastic running thru them . I think he just cut them to the correct length and then used a small screw to fasten them to the hatch . He will chime in soon with pictures I think, Good Luck Mike

Here is a photo I found online of the rods I was talking about. Was this not a standard option on the 23? The ones I saw in person a long time ago was attached to the top and folded toward the bow and stayed in the channel under the hatch What I would like to see is how and where they are attached to the underside of the hatch.

As far as I know my boat never had such an item .The pic looks just like the little rods that Mike fabricated from those tent pole things, I think he just bolted or screwed them to the underside and they do indeed reside in the channel when not in use > Mike

Call Hunter & ask about the rods used on the 260's. These look identical. It is a SS rod with a rubber foot on one end and the other is flat with a hole in it. There is a screw that attaches the rod to the lid. It swings up & lays in the channel when closed.

Sheesh, can't sneak anything past anybody on this board.
I still have a 33 at the marina and now also have my son-in-law's 23 in the yard. That's MY yard, not the marina's yard. And I've spent a heck of a lot more time with the 23 than I have the 33 in the past 3 months. That's gonna' change. jbreland I don't know how close you looked at that picture you posted, but that is definitely one tricked out 23. Boomkicker, good looking deck organizer to bring halyards back thru clutches to cabin-top winch. I'm gonna' steal a few of those ideas and then take full credit for them if anybody asks.

While I have you 23 owners on the line. My boom slipped at the mast. Looks like only a pop rivet was holding it up. Anyone ever used a clamp in the track to hold it up? Could the same type clamp hold up the main sail clips in the track above it. Seems that a cotter pin is the only thing keeping them up, and not very well at that.
