engine hatch
I had the same problem on my h30. I love the access to the engine but way too much water was coming in. The problem was not only with the gasket but with the screws holding the hatch in place as well. Mine had wood screws through the fiberglass, which is fine if you never want to use the hatch. Repeated access just ruins the screw holes. I removed all of the existing foam tape/gasket material first. Next, I filled the holes with epoxy. I found an extruded aluminum U channel, caulked underneath it and through bolted it to the cockpit sole wthe the bolt heads inside the "U". Next, I drilled and tapped the U channel to accept machine screws which I installed with rubber washers on top of the hatch. I found a rubber wrap around gasket to place on the outside leg of the U channel. The whole job took about 3 hours and $40.00. The only downside is that the hatch is now about 1/2 inch higher than the cockpit sole due to the height of the aluminum U channel. On the positive side, It no longer leaks and I can get in and out without comprimising the seal. Please feel free to e mail me if you have any questions.scott ingerickscottpatio@aol.com
