I need a hatch for an '81 Hunter 22. It is the domed tinted acrylic cabin hatch. Hunter doesn't have them and was just asking around before I lay down the $400. to Mark Plastics for a thicker one that I will have to modify the track to install. Thanks for all the good info on this forum.

My hatch is cracked and I went to a local window glass shop and they told me if I brought the old one to them or the measurments They could make one out of Plexglass, or Lexan which they said is stronger and would be thinner. It would not have the dome however.
I had repaired my hatch for now but I intend to replace it soon.
I do not remember the price but it is a lot cheaper than $400!
Good luck.

Scott, I have about decided to just use 1/4" tinted Lexan and be happy without the dome. Thought I would use the existing wooden parts and form the crown by fastening the Lexan to the bottom of the wooden pieces, which would be just like the original, minus the dome. I'll let you know how this works when I get to it. Just got the boat last week and am busy with lots of other things.

Just one more thing. Ask the people you buy the Lexan from about drilling it. I use to work as a aircraft mech and we had to modify our drill bits or risk cracking the plexglass. Lexan Is much stronger, but has a risk of cracking while drilling.
Good luck and let me know.
