Bad news for H25 hatch-seekers...
I'm in the process of replacing my forward hatch at this time, and here's what I know about it...First, I contacted Mike Thomas at Hunter. He informed me that the hatch was originally made by Gray, and that Gray was bought up by Bomar. The original part number was Gray #204 (or was it 207? I'm doing this from memory). Next, placed a call to Bomar. Their rep tells me that they no longer make the #204(7?), and that there is no "drop-in" replacement that will fit the cut-out on the H25. They DO have another hatch that will fit, if you're willing to cut the aft edge of the cut-out back another 1 1/2 inches. (Note: The cut-out is made of molded fiberglass- I don't think cutting it would look good at all.) Because of the trapeziodal shape of the hatch, it is difficult to find any kind of "drop-in" aftermarket replacement. SO... I did a little digging through the Lewmar catalogs at my local West Marine. I found a flush-mount hatch (the Ocean series, #60 I think) that I believe will just fit around the original hatch cut-out without having to cut. I think it will also allow me to secure the latches without any problems. Unfortunately, it's $550.**Sigh...** The joys of owning an older boat... If anyone has a working H25 hatch they're willing to part with, let me know... ;o)--Jon BastienH23 '2 Sheets to the Wind'H25 'Adagio'
