When I get down to my Beneteau 440 in Grenada next week I plan to install a pair of new Lewmar Hatch covers on the foredeck. (The previous ones were damaged by Hurricane Ivan) Can any one give me a set of instructions on how to do this or point me to a website from where I can print off the instructions. As many of you will know we get a shower of rain almost every day in the Caribbean so I want to do it right the first time. Thanks for any help, Steve Brockhouse

Small plastic clips
They stop the pins from beeing removed. I found them very hard to see. With no instructions it took me over a hour until I found Clips could be easily pulled out. The rest is easy. PS clips easer to see with no sunglasses.

Complete replacement
I may not have been explicit enough in my original request! I plan on replacing the entire hatch, including the through deck collars and seals etc. Guidance would be appreciated Steve B

Have you looked at installation instructions
and videos at the lewmar website ? Check under "support" and the menu at left has installation videos (Media Player) & a booklet (Adobe).

Not as easy as it seems
I received a replacement hatch from Lewmar and printed out the installation instructions. I attempted to replace the hatch cover, (not frame, etc) but could not find a way to remove the pins. There are plastic pin covers which come off easily. Before I call Lewmar, does anyone out there know the answer? Thank you all. Kevin

Thanks for the very useful input. I don't know why I didn't think of that! I have been to the Lewmar site and downloaded the booklet. It seems to be very helpful. Of course the boat is presently 2500 miles from where I am. It may get a lot more complicated when I am aboard and have the hatches in front of me! If you see the Caribbean sky turning bluer than usual next month you will know why!

you are still on the boat in warm weather to the envy of many of us. Hope it all works well and you have one of those nice experiences where even the screw holes line up. Couple hours work, couple quick "fruit juice" drinks to wash the taste of work from your mouth & let the sealant dry, then fair winds & blue skies.
