I want to build a hatch cover for my Day sailor II. I was wondering if anyone could shoot me some pictures of the front and backsides of the factory hatch cover so I can replicate it. Thanks!!

I have pics of the front side (new one purchased from D&R when old ones wore out), can take pics of backside using my old one. The old one was the 1979 original. What year is your DS II? The early model years for the DS II (about 1971-73 or 74) had a smaller opening, but you could adjust size based on your boat (actually, until at least 1973, the opening had a vinyl-coated canvas cover that snapped on.
Anyway...... here are my pics: Unfortunately, they don't really show the slot for the locking tab too well, but I can try to show that with another pic or two if needed.

Thanks for the pictures! Mine is a 1979 model. Until I saw your pictures, I had assumed that it was a one piece unit, but now I can see that it's made in two pieces. Shouldn't be too hard to replicate it based on what you posted. I traced the actual opening size on poster board, so I have the profile of the opening. I'll just enlarge it using the dimensions you provided with your pictures.
Any chance of a pic or two showing the cleats on the backside with the tape measure. It was a bit hard reading the first picture. Thanks!
