Just curious. I have heard different opinions. Maybe its model dependant. Maybe its your expectation levels. This is without a doubt the most asked question in this and other forums. Has the manual supplied you with the information you were seeking? Don

Daysailer Manual didn't help much

I got a copy of the original owners manual for my daysailer from another local daysailer owner. I was hoping that it would be able to give me the information I needed to effect a repair to the leaking centerboard pivot. Unfortunately, it didn't have anything about the centerboard except to describe how the mechanism worked. (One lever, forward is up) The manual for my Catalina, however, has been invaluable in terms of wiring and plumbing information as I restore that boat. Justin -O'day Owners' Web

Not really

For the 23, the "manual" consists of a couple of sheets of legal size paper. The information is not particularly helpful for maintenance or repairs.

Yes, the manual helps

My manual has been of great help over the years we've owned the boat. As a matter of fact I just answered a question from another boater about the LWL of our boat, an Oday 272, a few minutes ago on the Sailnet website. It contains information about commissioning, dimensions, capacities, drawings, operation, maintenance and manuals, including lists of original equipment suppliers. (Rudy Nickerson SHOULD be there, but you have to get that info from folks on this site.) I use it to answer rigging questions. There are diagrams of the systems on the boat. There are even float plans which I copy and use as necessary. The manual was absolutely the most important document I had at hand to learn about the boat (until I found this website). Tom
