didn't work for me

Hello, I tried the Soy Strip last November. I had a LOT of old bottom paint to remove. The Soy strip didn't work. It softened the paint, but didn't come close to removing it all. In defense of Soy Strip, when I used it the temperature was about 52 degrees or so. They state it has to be above 50 for it to work. I probably would have worked better on a warmer day, but I didn't have time to wait. I tried Interlux stripper, sanding, and scraping. The scraping worked best of all, but was slow, dirty, hard work. I gave up and hired a guy to soda blast the old paint off. That worked great and you can read about my boat here: http://www.sailnet.com/forums/gear-maintenance/42402-bottom-paint-1-me-2-all-done-test.html Barry

Peel Away

Peel Away was the only stuff that worked for me on my bottom paint. I used sheet plastic instead of the paper that comes with it. It was easier to work with and holds the moisture in better.

I used Peel Away and when I grew tired of paying the asking price

I bought 50 pounds of hydrated lime and several pounds of sodium hydroxide(red devil lye). I would desolve a pound of NaOH in water for a 35% concentrated solution and mix it with lime to make a paste. I spread that and covered it with freezer paper. Couldn't tell the difference

Now you tell me!

One bucket of peel away was really enough for the bottom of my boat (Oday 222). It's not cheap at about $50/gallon.
