Has anyone tried the extendo prop?

Hi again,
just wanted to know if anyone has used the Extendo Prop on a Catalina 30. It is a 15"x11" 2 blader that extends back giving room for a the bigger prop. I am wanting to go with this or a 3 blade cambell sailor or Michigan wheel sailor. I am wondering if it has more performance and is it durable being plastic? And does it rotate smoothly with all the torque being so far aft of the nut.. I hope someone that has tried it on theirs has some input thanks...

Works great. I've had it on since Feb 2010. No problems. No regrets.

Rob - I have a three blade prop, what do you think are the benefits of the extend? Do you remember the cost? thanks Philip

As mentioned, the Extendo allows for more clearance so you can use the 15 inch. It didn't look like a regular prop bigger than the 12 or 13 inch would fit on my boat (1981 mark 1). Even with the Extendo, there is not much clearance! It is a very light weight composite material with a flange on the front that extends it further back. I ordered mine with a can of prop paint.

As I replaced both engine and prop at the same time I don't have a before and after comparison with the same engine. But it pushes the boat really well. When I throttle up too much, the stern goes deep so I need to remember to throttle back.

The Extendo was cheaper than the typical props. Can't remember the price. I'm quite happy with it. It was installed Feb. 2010.

Great so what kind of engine did you install? I have a 1985 C30 with the older M25. I am considering the extendo prop, but am worried about when the lock nut gets fouled up. Seems like since it's way up inside the extended tube, that you couldn't get to the nut very good to chisel off the barnacles. Are you able to clean yours up fairly easy?
