sailing the prototype
Ok guys/gals, first off, in the interests of complete disclosure, the reason I got a chance to sail the prototype is because I work for the Hunter dealership in Annapolis that rigged the boat for the fall Annapolis Boat Show. After the show, the boat stayed in Annapolis for a week so that Sail/Cruising World could do their evaluations and Hunter could get some good photos of the boat under sail. It was during this time that I got a chance to take the boat out. Good news, all of you that have a boat on order will probably be very happy. The boat in many ways sails much like the 356/36. Fast but also well balanced with a light helm. In the moderate breeze that I got to sail the boat in, with the sails properly trimmed, you could take your hand off the helm and the boat would track straight. More like a sport boat than a family cruiser (thank you Glen Henderson). For those that don't need the extra room of the 36 I would think the 33 should be almost as fast (waterline is about 1 foot shorter) and just as much fun.
