I think I have leak and need to rebed the track and the teak strip. What am I likely to run into?

Comes right off. . . .

with a little effort. It is screwed through the teak base and into the coring. The old caulk still had a real grip between the teak and deck. As with the handrails I drilled 1/2" holes and filled with an epoxy mix. Then I drilled small pilot holes for the screws. I replaced the teak base with PlasTeak never to worry about varnish again. You can see the PlasTeak handrails, dorade top, and end of the traveler in the picture.

Deb, are you sure you have a leak there? The problem could be the dorade boxes. there is a whole story there thats pretty well doqumented and they can leak like all get out. Im in tampa and fixed mine. stopped the problems with water running down the bulkhead!

Yes I did

I pulled mine off twice....The first issue with me was getting the screws out. I used a tool...now for the life of me ican;t recall the name...but you put in a phillips head and pound on it and it will back the screws out nicely. The next issue was relacing the teak that broke into pieces as I was trying to pull it off the deck....who says 5200 doesn't hold well... I found a piece at Boat US. I used what as left of the old piece as a template. I drilled the necessary holes and secured it. Then I took the thing off and put down 5200 and reassembled the things in place. In so doing I cured yet one more of the leaks in my boat. The water that used to drip down the bulkhead no longer does. You may have other issues but I saw where mine leaked.
