with a little effort. It is screwed through the teak base and into the coring. The old caulk still had a real grip between the teak and deck.As with the handrails I drilled 1/2" holes and filled with an epoxy mix. Then I drilled small pilot holes for the screws. I replaced the teak base with PlasTeak never to worry about varnish again. You can see the PlasTeak handrails, dorade top, and end of the traveler in the picture.
