Has anybody added a small bowsprit to their O'Day?

I have an small Asymetrical Spinnaker (Hood Multi-Purpose Spinnaker) that I'd like to use. The tack should attach to the most forward point of the bow, but that position is currently occupied by my forestay which has a CDI roller furler installed. Attaching to this will invite a lot of chafe (I think) to the tack strop as it rubs against the roller furler's drum. I was daydreaming that a small bowsprit would serve a useful purpose. Has anyone done this? Or have you found, with your spinnaker, that it does not get close enough to the drum to be an issue and that the tack strop actually attaches forward and is run through the bow pulpit?Thanks for any advise here.

I don't know, but I would pose that question to your sailmaker. I'm sure he would have some advice.

Sailmaker says....

1. Can use an ATN tacker for tack and run tack strop through ATN tacker for attachment to virtually any point on the bow's deck (i.e. mooring cleat).2. Knot a sail tie (in lieu of ATN tacker and save $100) and run tack strop similarly;3. Add an anchor roller off the bow; 4. Weld a ring to bow pulpit for same thing, etc.Sounds as though almost any contact point on the bow would function. Any other ideas?
