What is a good attachment point for my kids' harnesses? I can put on jacklines, but is there an easier way that doesn't add to the clutter already present when sailing with the family?

Try this

West Marine has a long flat red line that goes up the middle of the boat. Attach West's shorter blue tether to that. Safe and simple. I use the setup while singlehanding.

Untill They Got Taller

Mine were attached to a hook on the compresion post just high enough that their feet were off of the deck. Tried a spare halyard but they made too much noise when they bounced off the mast.

Hey Rick!!!

I'll be back in Fl. this week and would still like to get out into the Gulf with my boat, but still feel uneasy about the "Pass". Do you know how things are since the dredging and how far out they went? Give me a call or contact me here and perhaps we could link up for a sail sometime soon. You can find my e-mail and phone in boats for sale section. Larry

What are the Odds?

We are going to San Antonio this week. My wife has a conference there and I was able to talk her into letting me come along. There is no good Mexican food here the BBQ is iffy and absolutely no place for chicken fried steak. So while she is "working" the kids and I will visit the Johnson Ranch and the Shlitterbahn. As for the pass I have not been out that way since the storm and have not noticed any dredging. If your not sure about running it or not there is plenty of great sailing in the bay.

I'll be around

Enjoy the BBQ. I had forgotten how much I liked it till I came back to Big "D" for a few weeks. I'll be in FL for a while. Last time was three months. This time, not sure. Yes, they were dredging the pass and out into the gulf for several weeks before I left. I watched boats going out having to bear off due east just outside the jetty (thus putting waves directly on their starboard) for several hundred yards before turning south again. My concern is coming back in with only a 7.5 hp engine and a following sea. I've had a few wild rides from nothing more than the wakes off large tugs passing me. Eight foot following seas would be something else. I've done some of the bay and the shallow stuff coming from BRooks Bridge knocks off some of the fun, but I need to get farther northeast. I just want to get into the Gulf sometime for a little while. Give me a yell when you get back. BTW....did you try using bungee cords out to the stays to keep the kids from slapping against the mast all night?

I'm in there too!!!

But I couldn't find you. Mine is under Larry Rushing. Two boats are listed. One is a Mac 22 and the other is a 26S. Shows a home port of Dallas. I looked for you under Rick, Rick Webb, and Webb and the search couldn't find you, otherwise I would have contacted you directly.

Not Cross Linked

I looked again but this time I looked on the Mac owners site and found you so I guess you have to know what kind of boat the guy your looking for owns.
