Halyard wrap help
It's hard to comment on your setup without a picture of what it looks like, but in answer to your question I had to install a halyard restrainer on my 95H23.5 with a Schaefer SnapFurl. The trim cap at the top of the (round) foil would catch on the halyard because the halyard exit on the mast is at around the same height and close to this cap. The cap actually split open and jammed. They mailed me a new one for free. The restrainer keeps the halyard close to the mast until an inch or so past the foil cap.Do you have a pennent (spacer) at the bottom above the drum or at the top above or below the swivel? Maybe it needs to be shortened by the amount that you shortened the forestay to give the same spacing as before. IOW, did the distance from the halyard exit on the mast to the swivel change when you shortened the forestay? This distance is critical when it comes to halyard wrap. My SnapFurl installation notes has a section on this issue, which is where it listed the halyard restrainer as a possible solution. The odd thing is that I would expect halyard wrap more likely if you lengthened the forestay, not shortened it!This Harken page talks about restrainers and pennants as solutions to halyard wrap:http://www.harken.com/furling/furlserv.php...RickM...
