I'm working on re-rigging my '78 C-22 to be more singlehanded-sailing friendly. I'm trying to run as many lines as possible back to the cockpit. The problem I'm running into is that the space I have to work with on either side of the pop-top is pretty narrow. Depending on how I do it, I figure I can run 2 or maybe 3 lines on each side of the pop-top. I may want to run more lines back to the cockpit, though. So, I've been thinking about running some lines on top of the pop-top. Assume the lines (shown in blue on attached photo) would exit some sort of block at/near the base of the mast (shown in green on attached photo), then head aft through an eyestrap mounted on the forward part of pop-top (shown in purple) to a cam cleat (shown in red) at the aft end of the pop-top.My question(s): Is this a good idea? If it's OK, does it matter which lines I run here? e.g., Would it be bad to run a line bearing heavy tension/load (like a single line reef) - as opposed to a relatively light-duty line (like a jib downhaul) - through this system? Thanks in advance...
