Hard to raise headsail

Steve and Betsy Lazerow

It is very very difficult raising the headsail at the start of each season. Is this a common problem? Is it because of the black disc near the top of the ZSpar mast entry point for the headsail halyard? BTW, the halyard seems to run OK when there is no pressure on it. Thanks.

Steve, we had the same problem with our P42...

until I cleaned the track and sprayed it with dry lube. Now I can raise it by hand except fot the last six inches and she drops like a rock. WM carries what you need. Terry

Or else...

Liquid detergent, injected into the track using a West System syringe. Won't attrack dirt.

I'm with Bill

The liquid detergent washes away with no staining of the sail. The dry lube leaves gray streaks on the sail. We used to go with the detergent on our 460 but then installed an external track. Now we have no sticking problems at all.
