Hard start capacitor installation

Does the polarity matter when wiring up a hard start capacitor? I installed mine but the AC still won't run with my EU 2000 Generator. The instructions d not say anything about it.

Yes it matters, and you need to supply sufficient amperage to overcome the 'starting torque' requirements ... or it simply wont start. Look at your AC voltage/amperage requirements ... STARTING AMPERAGE, not the RUNNING amperage requirements.

Also look at wire size and length. I have an air compressor that draws 12 amps but won't start on a 100 foot number 16 extension cord.
