tried em all
I've tried 'em all. Achilles hypalon 10'2" for 20 years. Great dinghy, loved it. Sand Dollar dinghy, home-made, great to sail at anchor or aroud the harbor, great dinghy love it. I also not have a carolina skiff 14 ft with a 20HP, great dinghy, gets me to the beach with tons of gear, coolers, unbrellas, four people, great fishing platform, terrible to tow but you can live with that for a ten mile trip out to the barrier islands. So I recoomend you get one of each. Carolina skiff also makes or used to make a 12 footer but only holds three people. So my current inventory is a sand dollar (see picture, designed by Arch Davis up in Tim R's backyard), a carolina skiff 14 and two kayaks. The hypalon started leaking after 20 year so it went into a dumpster. Both the seams and fabric started to leak. I loved that dinghy, but a hard bottom inflatable with a 10 HP motor from achilles cost the same as a 14 foot carolina skiff with a 20HP yamaha 4 stroke with a trailer.
