Heading out tomorrow for a few days sail. Gonna take in the fireworks over at Biloxi, and just diddle around a few days. Everyone have a safe and happy Fourth of July, and don't forget our troops, past, present and future.

Ditto! Happy 4th to all. Hope everyone gets out this weekend! Been out for 3 days on 2 different boats and plan on commandeering a newbies Catalina 30 today and force him to learn his boat!
He is a 55 year old man who realized a dream last year by buying his first boat. He hasn't had it out since he delivered it (under power only) and admitted that he is too reserved to ask anyone for help learning. We told him that he doesn't have a choice now!!

Fireworks ...
on Lake Hopatcong were Friday night and it was a great show for sure. I don't know if it's done this way on other lakes, but the whole show is really a spectacle. It seems that every house along the shoreline has lights on and parties going strong. The bands and the DJ's are in full employment around the lake. The lake gets packed with boats, the CG Auxillary is out along with all the State Police with their lights flashing and patrolling the perimeter of the area that is set aside for safety. The fireworks barge anchors just off LHYC and this years show was nothing short of spectacular!
We anchored in a prime location and I commandeered the air chair at the bow. Afterwards, we relaxed for about an hour watching thousands of boats crisscrossing with green and red lights going in every direction. The weather was perfect for the second year in a row (we've had our share of thunderstorms and rain for the previous years). Every indication has it that the event went off with no incidents of bad boating manners or excessive drunken-ness.
