We are interested in hanging a hammock from the forestay to the mast on the foredeck. It would be for one person - up to 180 pounds... Has anyone had a trouble with this ? Will the forestay hold it? Any suggestions as to how to rig it? Tanks for the comments!!

relaxing in the hammock!

I sometimes hang a hammock up between the forestay and the mast. I weigh close to 200 lbs. and the rig holds my weight fine. I use my main halyard and my spare jib halyard to support the load. Clip one halyard to the metal ring on each end of the hammock to hold it up. Then adjust the halyards so that the ends of the hammock are even and the hammock itself is no higher than your waist so you won't have trouble getting in or out. You will have to then tie one end of the hammock to the forestay and the other to the mast. This will keep the hammock open and centered. I enjoy the fact that when you are lying it it, you are gimbaled, so passing wakes on the beam have no rocking effect on you! That's it! Very relaxing when on the hook especially with a cold beverage!
