I would like to take the handrail off my 33 to refinish it but I cannot find how it is attached. I have searched for plugs but am unable to find any. I am thinking that they are attached from the inside. How do you get these things of

Handrail refinish

Are you sure you want to do this? The potential for all kinds of problems exists in this course. With care and patience they can be stripped and refinished in place.A good hook scraper kept sharp with a file will make short work of the remains of old finish.

Try some sand paper on top of the rail.

Ted: If you really want to remove them, then I would suggest that you take a sander (or some sand paper)and sand the top of the rail. You should be able to see the bungs. There is one at each loop. You usually can pick them out with a pocket knife or a pick. I suggest that you fill the holes with epoxy and redrill the holes when you re-install. Use some good caulk (Life Caulk, 4200, etc) and they should be properly sealed for many more years.

What year is your boat????

So, if its like mine the hand rails are screwed down from the top of the rails, then plugged and sanded and finished.
