I am moving my Hunter Cherubini 30, from St. Petersburg to Jacksonville FL. I am planning a route through the keys, should take around 10 to 14 days. I am looking for a hand(s) for the trip. I will be leaving Maderia Beach on the 8th of OCT. (Columbus Day) I would be willing to pay airfare if necessary and would consider someone for part of the trip. IE embark/disembark at Miami. Serious inquiries only please. I may be contacted at century227@yahoo.com. If you have done this trip and have some advice or tips, please post a reply

Why not go across lake Okeechobee?

it would be a whole lot faster. I've done the trip both ways from Dunedin to Jacksonville. You'll be doing a lot of motoring. You'll be going from Cape Sable to Long Key then North.

Short Cut

I have and am considering the Okeechobee, (love to fish it). The water level will let me get under the short bridge, currently 54', my mast is 47' I guess I will leave it up to weather and time constraints.

Okeechobee

LastI heard there wasn't enough water in there for sailboats. When I came through last fall, there wasn't enough water to run the rim route east of Clewiston. The railroad bridge near Indiantown has a clearance of 49', so you should be able to squeak under there. I would strongly recommend you call the Corp.of Engineers and make sure there is enough water in there.
