Hand Rails

I have recently decided that the toothpicks I have been calling hand
rails need to be replaced. I assume the rails that I am taking off are
the originals, however I have been informed by the local chandelry that
this size is no longer standard. Other than having custom grab rails
made, does anyone know where I could get rails to fit the existing
holes? As the deck has new paint on it, I am not eager to start
patching and redrilling new holes.

I have seen teak handrails that come as components. the bases are separate from the dowel so they can be placed at any distance you like. Sorry I don't remember the company.

For what it is worth;
If I should ever need to replace my hand rails, I will go with
stainless steel tubing. The tubing, and fittings etc. are easily
obtainable at most marine stores, easily installed where you want
them, very strong, look great and NO VARNISH necessary.

I concur. We replaced Lyric's grab rails with Stainless and were very
pleased with the results. Think about it, what would you rather grab hold of
if you were about to be tossed overboard? Walt
