Hand rails

I'm looking for a 4 loop hand rail. Problem is they now come in 10"centers. On my boat they are 13" centers. I have not seen any 13" centers at all. must have been a one thime thing for the '84. If none are found is there a recommendation for wood other than teak to use that will stand up.

Replace them with stainless tubes and rail mount fittings

Stainless works!

A P.O. Replaced ours with stainless handles. We find them superior over 15 summers and 6,000 nm's of cruising.

One key decision was to shorten their length so there are no handles inside where the shrouds come to the deck. The shrouds provide excellent safety holds there, and the cabin top is now a very comfortable seat for two crew!

Depends upon your skills and how much you want to spend. A company like PLASTEAK will match your handrails for example. Or you can buy their lumber and make your own. I am not a wood expert but a good yard could recommend one for a DYI. Stainless is great but expensive for a 37-footer. I have made my 1979 teak rails last by taking them home in the winter for more varnish. I reinstall them with the screw heads showing. Takes me fifteen minutes to remove or install.
