Hand Rail Removal

If you want to remove the handrails on the 22 don't pry up the teak plugs. I made that mistake and found that they easily unscrew from inside the cabin top. Make sure you mark which side is port and starboard when you want to put them back. Each handrail has a nut either glued under the plug or sitting there waiting the the screw from below. Different arrangement on mine:

My '73 rails were held in place with flathead screws from above (under the plugs), and nuts/washers in the cabin. All the screws, except one, behaved and did not turn. I only drilled out the one plug. The rails are sanded and oiled, and ready for my deck paint before install. Rich.
