Our Hunter 22 has a manually operated pump on the sink to extract water from the holding tank. It does not work very well. In fact to get any amount of water requires about a "gazillion" pumps. It does not appear to be broken. Do any of you have this problem, and if so what was your solution? (We carry jugs of water for drinking, but like to "wash up" with the onboard water system) Thanx in advance........GaryG

I replace mine and love it

Someone recommended the following pump from JCWhitney for $30 and it has worked great for me. The pump must be down on the floor. Suction is not good but it will push the water out in a steady stream if the pump is low. (it will not suck air up to the pump from the tank)

Here what I just did.....

I just had a recent post regarding my faucet for my H25.5 but I'm sure this will meet your needs as well. It's a nice little pump and faucet, inexpensive and easy to install. Plus it doesn't take a lot of electric. See the attached link. And last, I don't drink the water from my tank. We use it for washing dishes and general clean up. I just cleaned my tank and it was disgusting. If you haven't done yours, I'd highly recommend it. Anyway, good luck. Bob

JCWhitney pump looks great!

I like the idea of the JC Whitney pump. I'll give it a try. Can't beat the price.

JC whitney pump

From the photograph it appears to be the identical pump that is on my 1994 23.5. The one on my boat appears to be the original pump and it still works like a champ.

use a foot pump

Hi, I use a pump that is operated with my foot. Then I'm pretty sure I don't use all the water just pooring down the drain for nothing. And in my 25 years of sailing experience I just love robust methods - no fancy stuff - just plain mechanics. I don't want to get too dependent on the batteries any more. (And I have a simple 10 litre bottle as an extra resource). Then I know - "if I'm concious I get water." toomas

pump repair

I have asked Hunter about the pump and the original came from Gem-Lux. They are on the web but forget about them responding to emails. I have written them twice with no luck. I need to replace the inner o-ring, the one that does the pumping. I finally found a place that repairs big hydraulic cylinders and they have seals of every shape and size. The one in the Whitney catalog I believe is the same. I am debating on whether to get the electric or the manual.
