I do have some 'hobbyish' web (PHP) and DB experience from long long ago.
If this were done right the first time (and by right I mean using a
relational system, totally concise, adaptable, and incluing the
vessel's history [ie, new owner does not cause loss of old owner
data]), it would be an AMAZING and INVALUABLE set of data. It seems
to me most people who think of a 'database' usually just mean a flat
file (that you could make in Excel) with the particulars; if that's
what you're doing, do it in Excel - it'll save you time.
If you are thinking of making use of the advantages of a true
relational database, I would LOVE to help design & build it.
