I have a catalina 22 1982, pop-top. I often sail by myself and would like to be able to operate the halyards from the cockpit. Is the pop-top secure enough to mount rigging on? Has anyone done this before? What worked best ?

I wouldn't

mount any rigging hardware on the pop top. Even if it is strong enough, what would happen to the lines when you raised it? I'd locate the blocks on the fixed cabin top to lead the lines around the pop top. By the way, I give you credit for single handling the boat - it seems pretty difficult even in a C22 .

No

Something happened that my reply didn't show up properly last try. If both messages eventually show up, I apologise in advance. Mount rope clutches next to the hand rails. There is usually room for one next to each handrail. On some boats there is room for two on each side. If you want to add more than there is room for, you can even remove 1 loop of the handrail. That shouldn't be necessary though. Check out Ted's sailing page for details. http://sites.netscape.net/tedsailingpage/Single_Handed.html BTW: I think the C22 is a great boat to single hand sail. I found mine to be easier than my previous boat, a 16' daysailer. It is rigged better (Jib downhauls, halyards led aft etc.), so I guess that should be no surprise. Pete
