I have to replace or repair the FP 12 mini generator on our Hunter 50 and are trying to weigh my options, as repair is half the cost of a new one. I would think that the only reason for such a large generator would be to run all the air conditioners at anchor, which are 220v, although we haven’t used AC in the Caribbean as the breezes always keep things comfortable. In order to run them and other appliances you need a generator capable of 240 and 120v which limits the options. Would a FP 8 mini be good enough? I am thinking more of resale value as we only use the generator to run the washing machine and recharge the batteries if the sun disappears for a few days.

If you don’t need 240v for cooking, the mini 8 should suffice for A/C plus other minor stuff. We have the 8K which runs our A/C with no problem.

I went through the numbers years ago.
The Mini 12 is correctly sized for this boat.
