Finally got to do a job that has been on the radar for over a year last weekend. My H42 came out of the factory with only one windlass control button- power up. Given there is nowhere near enough fall for the chain from the gypsie and the chain constantly bunch's and then slips on the jypsie - there is a need to feed the chain away from the jypsie into the chain locker. I have always been mightily careful with fingers and winch's- not a good combination! So , I ran a new 30mm2 cable from the spare winch power stud back to the battery, thus giving me reverse or power down. As I want to be able to sit comfortably at the locker and be able to operate the winch and feed the chain with my fingers well away from the gypsie, I opted for a remote control that I bought off Ebay. I now have easy and safe control of my windlass and chain- the remote came with a great impact absorbing outer soft case and a neck lanyard- I am now in business- safely! -I wish I had done this a long time ago!!!

Just did that job on my P42 except I installed a separate foot switch for DOWN mode. I find it feeds out fine on the way down with no slipping or running away as it did with manual free fall. Now if I could only solve the UP problem of the chain bunching up so I didn't have to hand feed it into the chain locker!

I have a P42 and am having ongoing issues with the windlass wiring at the relay and terminals on the motor.
Have you ever replace the small relay box to left of windlass motor ( not sure if that is what its called) ( regulator/ solenoid?)
i have cleaned for corrosion but still is temperamental
suggestions - insight??
