................... if you're in badly fouling water such as we are. I haven't bothered cleaning my Airmar speed sensor in years and hence it's not running. Just grew ticked off with it lasting for no more than a week before again needing removal of the fine fibres which grow on the paddle wheel.

My next project is to install an Airmar CS4500 ultrasonic speed transducer. Seen enough of these used in industry as flowmeters for decades and they work well without fouling.

The only problem I'm now looking at is the $750.00 price tag and the fact that it's not compatible with my Raymarine ST30 speed readout. Lots of compatibility but not back to the ST30. Still definitely on my list of things to do.
