H41DS Racor priming question

My first time checking for water/gunk. Pure diesel and 1 small booger came out. Then I went to bleed the air. I unscrewed the little pump handle (my finger is on it in the photo). Tried pumping with both the top & side bolts loose (one at a time). Never got air or fuel out of those bolts. However, the shaft of the pump bled bubbles then pure fuel. I’m scared to start the engine because not sure this is sufficient! Any insight?

Question 2: anybody know a good clear bowl option that will screw right onto this Racor 230r MAM unit?

Did you fill the bowl as much as practicable prior to the bleed pumping? If not, it will take a lot of pumping?

Brand new filter installed by diesel mechanic 3 months ago. I merely checked for H2O. Just drained a couple teaspoons to check for water. Did not remove filter

Nevermind. The hand pump shaft eventually sealed itself & I got a nice squirt of pure diesel out the bleed bolt

I have the same primary Racor filter and installed below clear bowl. Be aware that the clear bowl is not ABYC compliant if the Racor is in the engine room. In case of a fire the bowl is not fire resistant.
