Definitely check the revs. I sent a pdf with the drawing and instructions. I'm sure it would be easier out of the water, but not impossible in the water. My diver changed mine in the water, but he does have experience in doing that.
I wasn't going to have the adjustment in the water. However my diver assured me it wasn't a problem for him. Then I asked Fred Hutchinson at PYI and he prefers the adjustment out of the water, but he knows a lot of people do it in the water. While the water is considerably warmer in Central Florida than S.F. bay, he doesn't have to wear a drysuit and gloves to do it as I would imagine you would.
Is the water colder here in the Bay Area than in Florida? Of course it is. Does it require "drysuits and gloves"? No. So your contention that a diver here can't perform a Max Prop Classic pitch change as quickly as you allege your diver can because we have to wear heavier exposure gear here is erroneous. But here's my point: You're advising anybody that will listen that an in-water Max Prop Classic pitch change is fast and easy. So fast and easy that that it can even be done free of charge. Since performing this task is part of how I earn my living, I take exception to this because I know it is neither fast or easy and had you ever done it (or even seen it done), you would know that to be the case. Changing the pitch of a Max Prop Classic requires the almost complete disassembly of the prop, the handling of many small (and some not so small) parts and then the proper reassembly of all of that. I have done it many dozens of times and I doubt that I have ever accomplished it in less than an hour. I have certainly never done it for free.
I don't know what you do for a living but it's a fair bet that I have no experience doing it. Therefore (as a layman), I would be foolish to present myself as enough of an expert in your field to advise others about how easy the job is to do or what fair compensation for doing it would be.
