In an earlier episode Ladylove had her one really bad day on the water. We have been so lucky with the weather. Tuesday morning we left Vero Beach with a forecast of 10-15 NW winds turning NE on Wednesday. We went out the Fort Pierce inlet with the yankee poled out and headed south. As is usual with NOAA the winds were 15-20 and building by late afternoon and the swells built as well. But you can’t complain about going past Lauderdale at midnight surfing along over eight knots. Then the shift to NE happened sooner than expected making the ride past Miami at 0300 pretty exciting.
However that NE wind held at around 16-18 all day and made the sailing along Hawk Channel a lot of fun. We winged her and saw over 7.5 most of the day. We were here in Marathon at Pedro’s around 18:00, 190+ nm in 33 hours. We had dinner with a free tie up at the next fuel dock where they wanted $2.50 a foot!! Needless to say we are at anchor.
