I was really tired of the little 1/4" drain + hose, especially since mine drained into the engine pan. Did not see anything in the archives so here is what I did. I purchased an Acetal thru-hull for 1/2 inch hose. Popping the small metal drain out was not a problem and I found my new fitting would work without having to enlarge the hole. I pulled the old drain fitting and the small hose out from in the icebox, then pushed the new 1/2" hose down (also from the icebox). I found I could snag it with a coat hanger from the lazerette. This had to be done by feel, since there was no way to see anything with my arm stretched around the icebox in the lazerette. I did it with not too much trouble. Holes were drilled from the lazerette into the cabinet holding the four drawers in the galley. Then from there into the engineroom. I ran the hose, 20', all the way through the bilge to my shower sump under the salon table. It should be mentioned that the new drain fitting was too long so the drain hose would crimp instead of making the turn under the icebox. The nut was threaded onto the fitting first, making the thru-hull/drain stand up about an inch or so. The nut rests on the icebox bottom and is packed with 5200. It works great.

Thanks Jerry,. . .

but that is way too much work for this H37C owner. I plugged the drain and occasionally sponge it out. :)
