I'm thinking of adding a furler to the clubfooted jib on my H37C cutter. The head sail already has it. I'm looking for input from the exeriences of others who've done this.

Check Archives, then. . .

let us know if you can't find what you need. This has been discussed by the H37C owners in the past, even recently I think. My recommendation has always been to find an Island Packet and study their arrangement. I used to think I wanted to move my old Hyde Streamstay from the front to the middle some day. But the staysail is so easy to manage, it's a perfect place for a stormsail, the staysail can be modified to reef as a stormsail, etc., etc. Add to that a new oversize yankee and there has been no incentive. Sunday we were doing 6.5 knots(8 mph on GPS) in 12-13 knots of wind withOUT the staysail. Still debating.

Jim, The boom on the staysail makes flying it

a no brain set up 90% of the time. It also inhances sail shape that remains stable tack after tack. If you enjoy tending the sails and adjusting their shape then it might not be worth the cost. For easy weekend jaunts into the bay with time spent with friends it could be a time saving item. Ray PS. I met my first club footed staysail boom this past week and liked it alot. I'm also the type of person that fiddles constantly to gain that last .1 knot of speed.
